How crane-truck delivery works

Our portable building transport process is built around predictable, single-visit placement. Flat-pack panels travel safely; on-site crane lifts handle every kilogram of finished pod weight without manual labour.

01

Order & Site Survey

You confirm your configuration and pay deposit. Within 48 hours we review your delivery address, satellite imagery, and access photos to flag any constraints.

02

Workshop Build

Your pod is fabricated flat-pack on the Sunshine Coast. Panels, frame, joinery, and glass are crated to fit one crane-truck load. QC sign-off before despatch.

03

Booked Transport

We engage a licensed crane-truck operator covering your zone. You receive a delivery window 7–10 days out, then a confirmed time slot 48 hours prior.

04

Site Placement

Crane-truck arrives, lifts each crate onto your prepared pad in sequence, and stages components for build. Truck departs same day — no return trip needed.

Victoria

Melbourne metro, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Mornington Peninsula, and regional Victoria. Our second-highest volume corridor with established freight partners servicing Melbourne weekly and regional VIC fortnightly.

Indicative
$2,200–3,000
Transit
3–5 days
ACT

Australian Capital Territory

Canberra and immediate region. Deliveries pair with Sydney or Melbourne routes, keeping freight cost reasonable for ACT property owners. Same crane-truck placement standard as every other state.

Indicative
$1,800–2,500

3–5 days
SA

South Australia

Adelaide metro, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, Barossa, and regional SA including the Eyre Peninsula. Monthly consolidated runs keep freight viable across the longer haul from Queensland.

Indicative
$2,800–3,500
Transit
5–8 days
WA

Western Australia

Perth metro, Fremantle, Mandurah, Bunbury, and accessible regional WA including Kalgoorlie. Our longest mainland route — we use dedicated long-haul carriers with the heavy-vehicle clearances required for cross-Nullarbor transit.

Indicative
$4,500–6,000

Timing / Order to Delivery

Lead times after order

From deposit to placement, here is the typical sequence. Coastal QLD and NSW sit at the short end of every range; long-haul WA and NT add transit time at the back end.

  1. Week 0

    Deposit & specification lock

You confirm configuration, colours, and add-ons. Deposit invoice issued. Site address logged for delivery survey.

  2. Week 1

    Site access review

We review satellite imagery and request photos of your access route. Any crane-clearance or driveway concerns are flagged within 5 business days.

  3. Weeks 2–5

    Workshop fabrication

Flat-pack panel build, frame welding, glazing, and joinery. Quality control sign-off before crating. Photos of your specific pod shared at build completion.

  4. Week 6

    Despatch & transit

Crane-truck booked for your zone. You receive a delivery window 7–10 days out. Real-time tracking link shared once vehicle is on the road.

  5. Weeks 6–8

    Delivery day

Crane-truck arrives, lifts components onto your pad, and departs. Build (DIY or partner builder) commences as soon as the truck clears your driveway.

Logistics / Site Access

Site access requirements

Crane-truck placement needs predictable access. Check the three thresholds below before placing your order — and send us photos if anything looks borderline.

Driveway Width

Minimum 3.2m clear

The crane-truck needs a 3.2m wide path with overhead clearance for the mast. Hedges, low fences, and tight gateposts are the most common blockers — clear or note in advance.

Crane Clearance

No overhead lines within 6m

Power lines, large overhanging branches, and pergolas within 6 metres of the placement zone require additional engineering. We will flag any concerns at the site survey stage.

Placement Pad

Level, firm, 6.5m × 3.5m

Your pad needs to be level, firm enough for crane outrigger pressure (compacted gravel, concrete, or piers), and slightly larger than the pod footprint for safe build access.

Truck Standing

Stable level surface 12m × 4m

The crane-truck must stand level and stable for the lift. Sloped, soft, or soggy ground requires steel plates — we bring them, but it adds time to the day.

Lift Radius

Pod within 12m of truck

Crane reach is typically 12 metres safe-working. If your placement zone is further from where the truck can stand, we coordinate a larger crane unit at extra cost.

Council Permits

Owner responsibility

Road closure permits, parking suspensions, or strata approvals for tight inner-city deliveries are arranged by the owner. We provide a written truck spec sheet to help your application.

Delivery Day / Hour by Hour

What happens on delivery day

A typical placement takes around three hours from arrival to departure. The flat-pack format means no manual carrying — everything lifts straight off the truck and onto your pad in sequence.

FAQ / Delivery

Common delivery questions

Quick answers to the questions buyers ask most often before placing a deposit. For anything specific to your address or zone, give us a call — we will give you a real number, not a placeholder.

  • Yes. Portable Pods ship to every Australian state and territory — QLD, NSW, VIC, ACT, SA, WA, TAS, and NT. We have established crane-truck partners in each region, and we regularly deliver to remote and regional addresses including outback NT, far-west WA, and Tasmanian regional. Some remote locations may require a longer lead time or specialised transport, but coverage itself is complete.
  • Indicative ranges sit between $400 (QLD metro) and $7,500 (remote NT). Most metro deliveries on the east coast land between $1,500 and $3,000. The published table on this page covers roughly 90% of bookings within each state. Your formal quote uses your real address and includes pilot vehicles, crane allocation, and any zone-specific permit costs. We never bundle freight into the headline price — you always see it as a separate line.
  • From order to placement on your pad, the typical timeline is 6–8 weeks. Around 4–5 weeks of that is workshop fabrication; the rest is transit. East-coast deliveries (QLD, NSW, VIC, ACT) sit at the short end. WA and NT add 1–2 weeks of transit at the back. If we hold a finished display unit ready, we can cut this to 1–3 weeks — call us first to check current stock.
  • The crane-truck needs a clear path 3.2 metres wide with overhead clearance to your placement pad. The truck must stand on stable, level ground within 12 metres of where the pod sits. No overhead power lines within 6 metres of the lift zone. Your pad should be level, firm, and at least 6.5m × 3.5m. We run a satellite-image review of every address before despatch, so most access issues surface weeks before the truck rolls.
  • Yes — remote and off-grid sites are within scope. We regularly deliver to outback NT cattle stations, remote WA mining-region farms, far-north QLD bushland blocks, and similar locations. Remote deliveries often involve a road-train relay or extended transit and are quoted individually. Lead time can run an additional 1–3 weeks. The build itself — flat-pack with crane placement — actually suits remote sites better than alternatives because no specialist trades need to travel.
  • The crane-truck operator handles the entire unload. You do not need to provide labour, hire a separate crane, or arrange any lifting equipment. Each crate is lifted off the truck bed and placed onto your pad in build sequence. The whole process is included in the freight quote — there are no surprise rigging charges or hourly crane fees on delivery day.
