What is an office pod?
An office pod is a freestanding structure purpose-built as a workspace. It sits outside the main house, typically in a garden or backyard, and gives you a dedicated room for focused work without a renovation or council-approved extension.
The Portable Pod version is built around a galvanised steel chassis with a full-glass long elevation. It is insulated to a residential standard, wired for power and lighting, and designed to be both architecturally appealing and practically functional from day one.
Common use cases include home offices, consulting rooms, therapy practices, podcast and video studios, pilates and yoga spaces, and guest rooms for Airbnb.

Why glass office pods are different.
Most portable offices use solid wall panels with punched windows. The result is a dark, shed-like interior that feels nothing like a proper workspace. A glass office pod inverts this, putting double-laminated glazing along the full long elevation.
The difference in daily use is significant. Natural light improves concentration and mood. The visual connection to the garden reduces the sense of isolation. Clients and colleagues who visit the space comment on it immediately.
Double-laminated glass also outperforms single glazing on thermal retention, acoustic performance, UV reduction, and safety. The laminate holds together on impact rather than shattering.

How office pods are used.
The same 18m² space works across a wide range of professional and personal applications. Here are the six most common builds we deliver.
Home office
A permanent desk, monitor setup, and video call background away from the house. The most common reason people buy a pod. Tax-deductible for business owners.
Backyard studio
Art, music, podcast, photography, and content creation. The glass walls deliver even natural light. Acoustic upgrade available for recording environments.
Consulting room
Private practice for psychologists, physios, counsellors, and allied health. Full separation from the residential house keeps the professional feel intact.
Site office
Relocatable office for construction sites, rural properties, and off-grid work locations. Crane-truck delivery handles access to places a standard building cannot reach.
Pilates and yoga
Private studio with full-length glass walls, premium timber floor, and split-system air conditioning. Designed for one-on-one and small group classes.
Airbnb pod
Add a bathroom fitout, a kitchenette, and privacy-tinted glass for an income-generating guest suite. Multiple customers report full cost recovery inside 18 months.

The standard Portable Pod is 5,950mm long, 3,000mm wide, and 2,800mm tall externally, giving approximately 18 square metres of internal floor area. That is enough for a full desk setup, a small meeting table, and a storage area. For more space, two pods can be linked side by side for 36m².
-
Yes. Wall panels use insulated composite construction with integral insulation. The roof uses earth-wool insulation between the steel sheeting and the internal ceiling. Both are included in the base kit price. For extreme climates, a higher R-value roof insulation upgrade and a split-system air conditioning pre-fit are available.
-
Yes, and it is the most common use case. The standard kit includes power outlets, smart LED lighting, and a finished floor, so the space is ready to use immediately after assembly. Business owners and self-employed buyers can also claim the pod as a tax-deductible depreciating asset under ATO depreciation rules. Speak to your accountant about the specific pathway.

This varies by state and council. In many residential zones across QLD, NSW, and VIC, a portable building under a certain size qualifies as exempt development and does not require a development application. In others, a complying development certificate or simple DA is needed. We provide a council inquiry template and the necessary technical documentation to support your application.
-
The Portable Pod starts from $18,500 AUD for the standard single-pod kit, excluding transport. Delivery ranges from $400 in QLD to $7,500 for remote NT. A fully installed office pod with partner-builder assembly typically comes to $25,000 to $30,000 depending on your location. Finance options start from $1,541 per month over 12 months.
