Linked Portable Pod configuration showing two connected pods on bushland site
Customisation / Make It Yours

Customise your Portable Pod — layouts, finishes & add-ons

Start with the standard 6×3m pod, then change anything that matters. Link two for a 36m² studio. Stack one for a two-storey footprint. Swap glass for solid walls, add a bathroom, drop in soundproofing — the kit is engineered to flex around your build.

Standard vs Custom

What you can change.

The standard pod is a complete, ready-to-build product. The custom pod is the same product reconfigured for a specific use case. Here is the line between the two — what every kit ships with, and what you can add, swap, or extend.

01 — Standard Pod Kit

The fixed core of every Portable Pod. Tested, certified, and engineered to ship flat-pack with no compromises on quality.

Configurations / Footprint

Single, linked, or stacked.

Most competitors only sell a single freestanding unit. Portable Pods are engineered to link side-by-side or stack vertically — so you can scale from a 18m² home office to a 36m² studio without moving to a different product.

Categories / Eight Ways to Customise

Detailed customisation options.

Every category below can be specified ahead of fabrication. Pricing varies based on configuration and finish — head to the pricing page or request a quote for itemised costs.

01

Glass Customisation

The standard double-laminated glass is generous and bright. For more privacy, thermal control, or design intent, every glazed panel can be specified differently.

  • Bronze, grey, or smoke tint
  • Frosted privacy glass
  • One-way mirror finish
  • Low-E thermal coating
  • Acoustic interlayer upgrade
02

Wall Customisation

Swap any glass panel for an insulated solid wall panel. Useful for bedroom builds, recording studios, treatment rooms, or any application where privacy outranks daylight.

  • Replace glass with solid panel
  • Custom exterior paint colour
  • Timber-clad feature wall
  • Higher R-value insulation
  • Internal acoustic batten
03

Window & Door Options

Standard kit has two sliding doors and three casement windows. Add, remove, or relocate as required — the framing system handles repositioning without retooling.

  • Additional casement window
  • Third sliding glass door
  • Bi-fold door upgrade
  • Skylights or roof glazing
  • Pet door or service hatch
04

Bathroom & Plumbing

Add a full bathroom pod or just rough-in for future use. We coordinate with your plumber for the in-slab work; the kit handles the rest. Common for guest-room, granny-flat, and Airbnb builds.

  • Wet area lining & waterproofing
  • Shower base & screen
  • Toilet rough-in
  • Vanity unit
  • Kitchenette pre-fit
05

Electrical Upgrades

Two double outlets and smart LED are standard. Add circuits and outlets to suit office, studio, or workshop loads — every cable run pre-fitted in the panel system saves time on site.

  • Additional double GPOs
  • USB-C charging outlets
  • Dedicated A/C circuit
  • Data & network cabling
  • Smart-home wiring pre-runs
06

Soundproofing & Acoustic

For music studios, podcasting, therapy rooms, and noisy locations, the standard envelope can be upgraded with acoustic glass, isolated wall systems, and ceiling treatment.

  • Acoustic-interlayer glass
  • Resilient wall framing
  • Ceiling acoustic panels
  • Floating floor system
  • Door seal upgrade
07

Interior Fitout

The kit ships ready to use, but most buyers add finishing touches before move-in. We supply or coordinate everything from premium flooring to built-in cabinetry.

  • Engineered timber flooring
  • Commercial-grade carpet
  • Built-in joinery & cabinetry
  • Pendant lighting upgrade
  • Window dressing & blinds
08

Climate & Comfort

Wall and roof insulation come standard. For climate extremes — Top End humidity, Alpine cold, mid-summer Perth — add active comfort systems sized for the pod envelope.

  • Split-system air conditioning
  • Ceiling fan & controller
  • Heated flooring loops
  • Ventilation upgrade
  • External shade screens
Process / Custom Quote

How to request a custom build.

Customising a pod adds 1–2 weeks to the standard 4–5 week fabrication window. The quote process below moves from first conversation to deposit in under a fortnight for most projects.

01

Tell us the use case

Call or fill out the contact form with what the pod is for, where it will sit, and any must-have inclusions. Photos or sketches help.

02

We send a spec sheet

Within two business days you receive a written spec confirming dimensions, finishes, inclusions, and a fixed-price quote.

03

Sign-off & deposit

You sign the spec, pay deposit, and we slot you into the workshop schedule. Lead time confirmed at this point.

04

Build & deliver

Workshop fabrication, photos at completion, crane-truck delivery to your site, and (optionally) partner-builder assembly on arrival.

FAQ / Customisation

Common customisation questions.

The questions buyers ask most often before committing to a custom build. For anything project-specific, give us a call — five minutes on the phone usually settles ten things on paper.

  • Yes. We routinely add full bathroom pods including shower, toilet, and vanity, or a smaller wet-area pre-fit for buyers planning to fit it out later. The kit handles wet-area lining and waterproofing; in-slab plumbing runs are coordinated with your plumber. Bathroom add-ons sit comfortably inside the standard 18m² footprint without sacrificing the open living area.
  • Yes — linking is a core configuration, not an afterthought. Two pods placed side-by-side share a structural connection, and an internal opening can be specified between them for one continuous 36m² space. Common use cases are studio-plus-bedroom builds, waiting-room-plus-treatment-room layouts, and home-office-plus-guest-suite combos. Most competitors only sell standalone units; linking is a Portable Pods advantage.
  • Yes. Every glazed panel can be specified as a solid insulated wall panel instead. This is common for bedroom builds, recording studios, treatment rooms, and any application where privacy, acoustic performance, or hanging-space matters more than daylight. The framing system handles the swap without any retooling — you can have anything from full glass to almost-fully-solid, with the standard pricing applying.
  • Yes. We pre-fit the cabling and panel cut-outs for a split-system air conditioning unit during fabrication; the unit itself is installed by a licensed refrigeration mechanic on-site. For most Australian climates a small 2.5–3.5 kW split is sufficient for the 18m² space, and we can recommend a model based on your zone. Ceiling fans, ventilation upgrades, and heated flooring are also available as climate add-ons.
  • A standard kit fabricates in 4–5 weeks. Customisation typically adds 1–2 weeks, so most custom builds ship 6–7 weeks after deposit. Complex configurations — linked pods, stacked pods, full bathroom fitouts, or significant electrical changes — can extend to 8–10 weeks. The fixed-price quote you receive at the start of the process always includes a confirmed lead time, so there are no surprises.
  • It depends on what you change. Small tweaks (an extra GPO, a swapped wall panel, premium flooring) run a few hundred dollars each. Mid-range additions (bathroom pre-fit, soundproofing upgrade, link kit) sit in the low thousands. A full bathroom fitout or linked-twin configuration sits in the higher thousands. Our pricing page has indicative numbers for the most-requested add-ons; for anything outside that list we send a fixed-price quote within two business days.
Custom Quote

Tell us what you are building — we will quote the kit to suit.

Most custom quotes go out within two business days of the first call. You receive a written spec, a fixed price, and a confirmed lead time before any deposit is taken. No surprises, no “variation orders” halfway through the build.
