Ardbrae

Our Story

The Beginning

A Working Thoroughbred Farm

Tucked into the rolling landscape of the Mornington Peninsula, Ardbrae began its life as a working thoroughbred farm, rich in history and quiet purpose. Originally owned by the Ross family, Jill and Max, along with their four children, lived and worked on the land, feeding, grooming, and caring for their prized horses with dedication and pride.

At its heart sits The Old Barn, once the humble living quarters for foaling assistants who watched over the surrounding paddocks through long nights and early mornings. These fertile, well-nurtured soils have raised many a champion, including the legendary racehorse Makybe Diva, born right here on the property and sired by the internationally renowned stallion Desert King.

Ardbrae was also home to notable stallions including Golden Snake, Islero, and Cool Ted, further cementing its place in thoroughbred history.
